Beyond creating a wine that tastes great, the innate quality of the wine is the utmost important thing for us. That’s why we’re constantly striving to learn, grow, and improve our wines through experimentation and research.

Bear Creek is not just a winery, we are a research center. Partnering with NDSU, we are working year after year to cross breed grape varieties with the mission to create the next best grape.

Each harvest we learn something new - We trial different winemaking techniques, challening ourselves to make our next favorite blend, and work to breed the North’s newest cold-climate grape variety.

We fail a lot, but each “fail” is a step in the right direction and a foot forward towards making innovative discoveries about what the future of wine in cold climates can be.
